Job Description:

Based out of our corporate headquarters in the West Loop of Downtown Chicago, he US Sustainability Manager will play a strategic role in our continued efforts to embed and strengthen sustainability strategies across McDonald’s US value chain, including the US focusing on circularity and regenerative agriculture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead achievement of US circularity goal, including in-restaurant recycling and initiatives to advance circularity within in the industry
  • Lead progress within supply chain sustainability strategies, including achieving our climate action and regenerative agriculture goals
  • Maintain the restaurant food donation program
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration with franchisees, suppliers, industry, NGOs, government, and foundations, and develop and maintain relationships with key partners
  • Influence and engage leading industry and multi-stakeholder organizations.  Represent the company at workshops, meetings, and speaking events
  • Conduct research, analysis, and engage stakeholders as needed to advance data-driven strategies to reach goals
  • Collaborate with global and other country’s sustainability teammates to align strategies
  • Collaborate with McDonald’s US field office teams to develop, communicate, and deploy strategies
  • Collaborate cross functionally with restaurant development, strategic sourcing, public affairs, government relations, communications, and marketing
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of post-college experience working in decentralized organizations, leading change management campaigns
  • BA/BS is required
  • Restaurant or retail industry experience, especially with franchise models is preferred
  • Sustainability program development and management experience, specifically regarding circularity and regenerative agriculture is preferred
