Job Description:

This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers. 

Reporting to the GTIO Director, Global Network Platforms and working closely with the entire Global Technology Operations and Infrastructure (GTIO) team, or global markets and partners, the Technical Product Manager, Cloud and Core Network Platforms will manage the strategic direction and technical evolution of our Global Cloud and Core Network Platforms delivered globally to markets, cooperate, restaurants, cloud ecosystem and partner locations. 

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Manager to help shape the strategy, transform and protect the entire McDonald’s environment. 

Accountabilities &Responsibilities: 

  • Lead and drive the day-to-day direction and innovation of the Core Network & Cloud Platform Engineering team in enabling core platform capabilities, and building cloud connectivity and infrastructure in AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. 
  • Act as a product owner responsible for product enhancement and life cycle management in cloud networking, Cisco networking, security and compliance tooling, and other core areas. 
  • Identifies and solves complex problems potentially impacting the broader environment; creates methods to address current and future customer needs. 
  • Enhance the capacity of the Cloud Platform Engineering team through mentoring, coaching, training, and hands-on-leadership. 
  • Oversees the day-to-day work that includes product deployment, enhancement, and support for cloud and core network capabilities. 
  • Drive adherence to Agile methodologies, including playing the role of scrum lead. 
  • Accountable for managing projects related to Cloud and Core networks.  
  • Manages budget and directs activities of the project's teams. 
  • Monitor and ensure the accuracy, quality, security, and usability of all network platforms. 
  • Collaborate across the Global Technology Organizations to promote CI/CD driven infrastructure as a Code capability. 
  • Direct and facilitate the adoption and improvement of our Network Platforms. 
  • Participate in the assessments and vendor selection in order to develop and deploy cutting-edge platforms. 
  • Reviews appropriateness of technologies used for network components and recommends modifications and/or upgrades when necessary to keep systems operating according to defined service level agreements and operating level agreements. 
  • Communicates network product change to the appropriate support channels and personnel. 
  • Partner with the Network Observability Technical Product Manager to design and deliver status dashboards to ensure total visibility and reflect status, capacity, health, and state of Cloud and Core network environments, and other critical assets across the globe. 
  • Deliver significant value by Integrating Cloud and Core logs, alerts, data and insights into the proper ITSM and Data lakes for actions. 
  • Lead our relationship with Equinix and Cloud providers,  
  • Partner with the Products and Platform teams to deliver network self-healing automation to detect, analyze, and act upon network capacity and health events.  
  • Continually assesses Cloud and Core network market opportunities and market strategies to ensure operational optimization. 
  • Leads the development of appropriate capacity planning, failover systems, business continuity, and disaster recovery plan.  
  • Ensure 100% of the Cloud and Core network components have Observability and is generating the proper data to insights to actions workflow.  
  • Support the development and evolution of the Cloud and Core Network platforms, including vision, strategy and roadmaps for our Platforms in partnership with the Restaurant and Office Network Product teams; Network Platforms team, GTIO extended team and external stakeholders.  
  • Support the adoption and improvement of our Cloud Platforms. 
  • Understand global and regional network requirements and lead transformation, standardization and innovation efforts. 
  • Stay current with the very latest knowledge of the market across the network products and platforms through market assessments, trend analysis, vendor seminars and peer relationships 
  • Partner with internal application stakeholders, solutions architects, network Product & Platform managers, and market IT leads to define requirements, develop strategy and design network platforms to meet the needs of the business 
  • Define, document and communicate network security standards, best practices and blueprints for our network products and platforms for market and corporate customers 
  • Understand McDonald’s current landscape of tools, processes, standards, automation, monitoring, hardware and more.  
  • Lead technical assessments and support vendor selection to develop and deploy cutting edge platforms, spanning beyond traditional technology 
  • Technical governance and validation of Standard Operating Procedures and Knowledge articles to drive quality and operational performance improvements 
  • Create and maintain strong relationships with corporate and market teams to ensure strong and effective engagement in technology discussions 
  • Gain an understanding of the varied market (country) architecture and support network standardization efforts 
  • Participate in Architecture Review Boards for Enterprise Architecture alignment, representing Global Network Infrastructure and Operations. 
  • Assists with the audit and management of GTIO global platforms identifying gaps and needs in corporate teams, segments, markets and restaurants. 
Qualifications:
  • Must be fully vaccinated (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) for COVID-19 and, if hired, present proof of vaccination by start date.

  • Ability to understand business challenges, drive process improvements and translate into solutions.

Experience:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Network Architect or Engineering role gained in multi-cultural, large global organizations. 
  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, building, supporting and managing Cloud and Core networks or platforms.  
  • 2+ years of professional experience as Cloud Network Product Manager or Service Delivery manager.  
  • Proficient in Cisco, AWS and Azure Networking Technologies. A critical thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills and advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills. 
  • Ability to engage, lead and drive vendors working closely with our Vendor Management function 
  • Organizational and strategic management skills, including budget and business planning and forecasting 
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting with senior management and executive roles for internal and external partners 
  • Extensive business acumen, technical knowledge, and industry experience encompassing one or more cloud engineering, technology, and product domains. 
  • Experience presenting and articulating solutions to prospective customers and Technology teams. 
  • Strong technical leadership skills, including coaching, team-building, and conflict resolution. 
  • Knowledge of Cloud Native Architecture and principles and Infrastructure as a code. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of enterprise change management process and technology governance. 
  • Experienced with automation tools and platforms, Ansible preferred. 
  • Experience working with an Agile environment with a Scrum Master, Daily Scrum meetings, Backlogs, Sprints and written Stories and deliverables. Familiar with documentation process and tools, JIRA and Confluence preferred. 
  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science/Engineering/Technology. 
  • Cloud certifications are advantageous (e.g., AWS certified advanced networking, AWS certified solution architecture., Microsoft Azure certified solutions architect). 
  • Expertise with AWS technologies such as: VPC, Route 53 Resolver, Route 53, VGW, IGW, NACL, SG, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink and Landing Zone. 
  • Expertise with Azure technologies such as: VNET, vWAN, vHUB, AFD, IGW, NSG and Express Route. 
  • CCNP/CCDP/CCIE R&S or Security certification, or equivalent, preferred. 
  • ITIL certification preferred. 
  • Scrum PAL-E and/or PSPO certification are advantageous. 
  • Experienced with Dev/Ops and CI/CD pipeline tools and processes are advantageous
