The McDonald’s IDL Segment
McDonald's is one of the world's leading global foodservice retailer with over 37,000 locations in 120 countries. More than 90% of McDonald's restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent local businessmen and women. McDonald’s has successfully utilized the Developmental Licensee (DL) ownership structure for more than 30 years in regions throughout the world, including more than 80 individual countries with a portfolio of approximately 18,000 restaurants, (around 43% of our total system restaurants). Today, the IDL segment is the unit growth engine of the McDonald’s system and has grown significantly in importance over recent years.
About the Asia Business Unit (ABU)
The Asia Business Unit (ABU) supports 12 markets across 11 countries: Brunei, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. ABU Finance works in close partnership with market finance leaders and corporate stakeholders to support planning and performance, provide decision support and business cases, and strengthen governance and financial discipline across a diverse set of markets.
The Role
McDonald’s is seeking a high-performing Senior Manager, Finance to join the ABU Finance team. This is a senior individual contributor role in a lean, high-impact team. The role requires strong judgement, structured problem-solving, and the ability to operate effectively across a complex stakeholder network. The Senior Manager partners with market finance leaders and internal stakeholders to translate market activity into disciplined financial outcomes through planning, performance insights, decision support, and continuous improvement.
Periodic travel across ABU markets may be required based on business needs.
Duties
- Lead core planning and forecasting cycles across ABU markets by consolidating inputs, pressure-testing key assumptions, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring outputs are high-quality, consistent, and decision-useful
- Provide performance insights and executive-ready narratives by analysing financial results and business drivers, synthesizing key messages, and supporting leadership updates and performance readouts
- Support strategic decision-making and business cases by building and reviewing financial models, assessing trade-offs, and translating complexity into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Serve as a trusted partner to market finance leaders across the ABU portfolio, providing thought partnership on financial questions, scenario planning, and ad hoc problem solving in a fast-moving environment
- Strengthen financial discipline and governance by supporting reporting alignments, monitoring key financial control topics, and ensuring issues are resolved with clarity and accountability
- Drive simplification and ways of working improvements by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, improve tools and templates, enhance data quality, and share best practices across the global finance system
- Operate with high autonomy and ownership – prioritizing effectively, managing ambiguity, and delivering high-quality outputs without reliance on a large team or formal delegation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 12+ years of progressive experience in finance, including areas such as FP&A, business partnering, performance management, reporting, or financial analysis
- Strong analytical and financial modelling capability; advanced proficiency in Excel and comfort building clear, decision-ready outputs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to synthesize complexity into crisp, executive-ready messages
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate in a matrixed environment; able to build trusted partnerships across levels, cultures, and functions
- High comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities with strong organizational discipline and attention to detail
- Experience in multi-market or regional roles, franchised environments, or complex stakeholder ecosystems preferred
- Professional qualifications (CPA, AACA, CIMA) or equivalent preferred
