We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Field Communications to drive strategy, communications and alignment for the US Field organization. This person will be critical in ensuring Field Offices are working towards one plan and serve as a key communications conduit to owner/operators.

This position will be based in Chicago and report directly to the Director, US Field Communications & PR. You will be a member of the broader North American Impact team.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

Develop a cohesive Field Communications strategy that ensures McDonald’s national priorities and narrative are cascaded locally in all 10 Field Offices

  • Strategy will be implemented in partnership with your team of five Field Communications Managers located across the country
  • You will also work closely with the Senior Manager, Field Public Relations, who leads proactive local media efforts

Oversee the Field Communications team’s response to issues and crises at the local and regional level

Serve as the go-to communications counselor for McDonald’s National Field President externally and across the McDonald’s System (including social media, narrative development, etc.)

  • You will partner with the U.S. Enterprise Communications team to ensure the National Field President serves as a key voice of the U.S. business narrative

Build strong relationships with restaurant owner/operators, including relevant franchisee leadership groups

Lead the communications strategy for annual U.S. Field and owner/operator events

Grow and develop the skills and careers of direct reports through effective people management

Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree required
  • Experience with both internal and external communications
  • Experience with improving entire existing processes, systems and / or products
  • Experience leading a team
  • Proven leadership and ability to influence and work with Sr. Leadership and multi-disciplined teams
  • Ability to navigate, orchestrate, and work through complex issues with a strategic, tactical, and fresh perspective
  • Previous experience managing executive-level communications
  • Shown ability to develop and implement communication strategy for key initiatives
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to a fast-paced environment and support multiple high priority work streams
  • High level of strategic focus and perspective and tactical ability to deliver
  • In-depth knowledge of communication strategies, tools, and vehicles and application of written communication skills.
