Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Director of Edge Solution Delivery to be responsible for the technical strategy and execution of Edge platform programs. The role will drive the integration of Edge computing solutions into McDonald's technology ecosystem, ensuring high performance, low-latency analytics, and platform optimizations, powered by Google Cloud infrastructure. This position demands leadership to lead multi-functional technical teams and ensures alignment with McDonald’s Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards. This role is also expected to bring thought leadership and industry standard processes to McDonalds and provide recommendations for future enhancements and overall strategy for restaurant platform and operations. Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Technical Strategy Development:

• Lead the design and execution of the technical vision and roadmap for the Edge platform, ensuring alignment with broader interpersonal goals, including integration with adjacent engineering initiatives. Collaborate with Google and internal partners to lead all aspects of performance metrics and performance measurements for Edge platform operations, optimization, and performance.

Edge Platform Oversight:

• Own the ongoing operation and continuous enhancement of the Edge platform, ensuring the underlying architecture, Operations, and tools are robust and scalable. Lead the technical governance, policy creation, and compliance measures for the Edge ecosystem.

Enterprise Architecture (EA) Alignment:

• Supervise and evaluate the integration of Edge solutions within McDonald's broader EA framework, ensuring compliance with established principles, patterns, and practices. Guide the team in the adoption of modern architectural paradigms and technologies.

Security & Compliance:

• Ensure the Edge platform’s compliance with enterprise security protocols, privacy regulations, and industry standards. In conjunction with Implement robust risk management processes, security assessments, and periodic audits to mitigate vulnerabilities and maintain platform integrity.

Team Leadership & Development:

• Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled leaders and professionals by fostering a culture of inclusion, excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. Also ensures the team remains inspired and motivated and aligned with interpersonal goals through mentoring, coaching and providing career development opportunities.

Project & Delivery Management:

• Oversee the delivery of Edge platform releases, including segment & market lab deployment in conjunction with Market teams. Ensure all technical work meets the established scope, budget, and timeline constraints. Handle, risk mitigation, and issue resolution during project execution.

The expected salary range for this role is $225,650- $289,440 per year

Qualifications:

• 15 + years of proven experience in technology, with a focus on infrastructure, engineering, data, cloud and digital solutions in a large multinational organization.
• Experience influencing, inspiring, and leading high-performing, diverse leaders and teams of employee and external supplier teams across multiple geographies.
• Consistent track record of developing and implementing successful technical and engineering platform strategies on Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience driving co-innovation and product definition in conjunction with cloud hyperscalers.
• Sophisticated technical degree or certifications (e.g., PMO, Agile, Scrum, etc.) would be a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in technology transformation, systems administration, digital technology, engineering, computer science, or other related fields.

Desired skills

• Experience with the McDonald’s business model, including knowledge of our markets, strategic priorities, and franchisee engagement models.
• Capability to drive innovative solutions including Self-healing infrastructure and integrating DevOps capabilities across public and distributed cloud ecosystems.
• Able to prepare and present accurate and timely information to senior leadership regarding technical capabilities and maturity, up to and including the McDonald’s Senior Leadership Team.
• Experience deploying Edge Computing Frameworks: Understanding of edge computing architectures, where data processing and analysis occur closer to the data source rather than in a central cloud, and how GDC enables edge processing.
• Experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and containerized applications in the edge environment, including handling workloads across edge devices and the cloud.
• Familiarity with GCP networking services such as VPC, Cloud Load Balancing, Cloud DNS, Cloud CDN, and their configurations for both on-prem and cloud integration.
• Strong experience being responsible for Infrastructure Automation & Management including:
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in using tools like Terraform, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, or Ansible to automate the deployment of infrastructure resources both on-premises and in the cloud.
• Configuration Management: Experience with configuration management tools such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible to ensure proper configuration of both cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Knowledge of CI/CD processes and tools such as Jenkins, Google Cloud Build, or GitLab to automate deployments and integrate infrastructure updates across both environments.
• Expertise in Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) for leading containerized applications and services across both on-prem and cloud environments.
• Solid understanding on standard processes handling multi-cluster environments and orchestrating workloads across GKE clusters and on-premises Kubernetes clusters, enabling consistent deployment and scaling of applications.
