Job Description:

McDonald’s UK & Ireland is looking for a commercially minded Senior Location Planner to join our Development team. You’ll play a key role in evaluating new site opportunities and shaping our location strategy across the UK and Ireland, from drive thru restaurants to high street restaurants and other formats. This is an outstanding opportunity to join the highly successful development team of one of the most iconic brands in the world.

 

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Appraise new site opportunities across various formats, including drive thru, drive to, high street  and delivery kitchens including forecasting impacts on existing restaurants
  • Support and evolve our location strategy, guiding the acquisitions team on priority areas
  • Maintain and enhance estate databases, GIS systems, and competitor datasets
  • Monitor competitor activity and provide insights on their strategy and impact
  • Develop and refine our sales and impact estimation processes
  • Manage relationships with external consultants and data suppliers
  • Analyse internal and external data to support decision-making and strategy development
  • Leverage customer data (App/Reward) to inform sales forecasting
  • Track post-opening performance and provide actionable insights
  • Respond to geo-demographic data requests from across the business

 

Qualifications:

What You’ll Need:

  • Extensive experience in Location Planning or a related field
  • Degree in GIS, Geography, or a numerate discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong knowledge of UK & Ireland geography and the restaurant/retail sector
  • Proficient in geospatial tools (e.g. MapInfo, Alteryx) and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with data tools (e.g. MicroStrategy, SQL, Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Understanding of sales forecasting and customer/market data analysis
  • Ability to communicate insights clearly and influence senior stakeholders
  • Self-starter with excellent time management and prioritisation skills
  • Team player with a passion for learning and development
  • Full UK driving licence (Essential)
