Department Overview
We’re looking for a Manager - Tech Lead in our Loyalty product area focusing on Loyalty reward earn capabilities that drives deeper participation. You’ll lead a team of developers focused on extending McDonald’s My Rewards program. This consists of the integration of 3rd party and internal platforms into McDonald’s digital commerce channels (Mobile app, Web, KIOSK) supporting an engaging and seamless end-to-end user experience. This role will focus on expanding how customers earn rewards beyond food purchases-exploring gamification, social incentives, engagement-based mechanics, and third-party partnerships. This role will work with solution architecture teams to define technical solutions that are reusable, scalable and secure which will be critical as we look to integrate our capabilities and loyalty rewards with other external partners. The role will be responsible for managing product reliability, technical debt, and influence into prioritization and sequencing of product backlog.

This team is integral to enabling McDonald’s marketers to deliver a more personalized and relevant and engaging experience on a global scale. To achieve these outcomes, you’ll collaborate with multiple McDonald’s teams, including other Product teams, Engineering teams, Experience Design, Strategic Insights, Marketing, and Legal. This role will report directly to the Sr Manager Earn and Redemtion under Loyalty & Partnerships domain.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- As a member of the Global Loyalty & Partnerships Tech Team, you will lead the end-to-end development of capabilities that seamlessly integrate third-party reward earn into the McDonald’s digital ecosystem. As a tech leader, you will own the tech vision, solutioning, development and integration.
- Develop and launch the capabilities that allow loyalty customers to earn points, and/or access benefits with third-party partners, ensuring seamless customer interactions.
- Design scalable, flexible technical solutions that can be adopted globally while allowing for local market configuration.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Data, and Architecture teams to build an integration framework that makes it easy for partners to onboard.
- Attend all squad level ceremonies and act as the leader of the Software Development Engineers (SDE’s) of the respective squad.
- Partner with Product Manager to lead the entire lifecycle of the backlog grooming process
- Manage the output (quality and efficiency) of external vendor squads to ensure they are delivering to the standards required by McD
- Ensure that delivered solutions are in line with architectural specifications, quality standards, and security standards.
- Accountable for deployment of new features including QA, push to production and defect remediation
- Partner with Experience Design and other Product teams to create easy-to-use, customer-facing loyalty earn experiences within the broader MyMcDonald's Rewards program.
- Solution Design: Partner with team members to grasp the business goals, user experience, and design prerequisites, and craft logical and technical solution designs that align with these requirements. Make sure the code development aligns with architectural, quality, and security standards
- Development Squad Leadership: Managing squad capacity and ensuring the accurate mixture of abilities and technical expertise needed to achieve business objectives. Ensure engineers understand the business context and requirements of the solutions and products. Ensure teams
- Engineering Growth: Progress and advocate for standard processes in engineering. Ensure observability of systems and integrations within your domain to improve reliability and reduction of technical debt. Ensure security-based design to reduce customer and brand risk. Ensure high levels of testing coverage and end to end testing processes to derisk deployments. Regularly review performance to inform individual and cross-product optimization.

Salary Range
Salary Range - $129,800 - $165,490 per year
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in, software engineering, technical / solution architecture, technical project management, or a related field
- 5 plus years of experience in Mobile App Development, Software Delivery, Engineering or Architecture
- Experience leading a team of Product Engineers to deliver digital products with measurable results
- Experience working in a global organization, preferably franchised and in the consumer/retail sector
- Proficient in collaborative programming, continuous integration, iterative design, and incremental development
- Experience in Agile Development methodologies, with practical application across the Product Development Lifecycle
- Strong communication skills with ability to explain complex technical decisions to non-technical collaborators
- Bring experience in one or more of the following: Large scale implementation of an ecommerce, Loyalty & Rewards, and martech ecosystem. Experience in marketer authoring tools enabling teams to efficiently create and publish offers, deals, and large-scale promotions across a multi-channel ecommerce ecosystem. Bridging revenue growth management strategies and systems into a global ecommerce implementation.
- Have a proven ability to inspire and manage high-performing engineering teams, especially if you enjoy building teams’ problem-solving skills and engineering competency
- Effectively communicate your vision, strategy, and progress to drive alignment across the organization, to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Collaborate with product, design, and other teams to achieve shared objectives.
- Excel in collaborating with and influencing others, in a matrixed and global organization
