Job Description:The Commercial Product & Platform vision develops global technology products and platforms that delight our customers and enable our crews to operate our restaurants reliably and effectively.
The Manager, Technical Lead partners with Product Management to determine the right "how" of building the product (e.g., trade-offs in implementation approaches, tech stack selection) and provides technical guidance for developers/squad members/vendors. They lead the output (quality and efficiency) of external vendor squads to ensure the deliverables meet the standards required by McDonald’s. They actively partner with their product counterpart to build the right product roadmap. They are responsible for owning and maintaining the right architectural designs for all data integrations. This position reports to the Director, Tech Lead.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
Support Product Feature Definition and Tech Debt Backlog Preparation:
- In partnership with the product team, participate in roadmap and backlog prioritization, providing technical perspectives towards translating Epics into user stories for the development team to work on, as well as backlog refinement processes.
- Responsible for managing tech debt backlog and driving scalable solutions to support business needs, with a deep technical understanding of data integrations and related technologies
Attend All Team Agile Ceremonies and Act as Leader of the Software Development/Build Team:
- Lead technical solutioning and development of features, including building analytics and observability capabilities.
- Accountable for the deployment of new features, QA, push to production, and defect remediation.
- Ensure code development aligns with architectural, quality, and security standards and best practices.
- Maintain documentation standards for all software and lead acceptance criteria validation of development work.
- Ensure product delivery is done to a high standard with dedication to latency, scalability, extensibility, and security.
Lead the Output (Quality and Efficiency) of External Vendor Squads:
- Ensure delivery within company standards and best practices, including vendor management.
Continuous Improvement and Feedback:
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement by soliciting feedback from customers, internal partners, and team members.
Identify Core Problems or Opportunities Within Business Processes:
- Lead technical discussions with experts like architects while also working with non-technical counterparts.
- Encourage end-user understanding and adoption of global solutions.
- Influence without authority to drive outcomes and solve complex technical challenges.
People Management and Mentorship:
- Lead and mentor a team of associate tech leads, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching, and professional development opportunities to team members.
- Manage team dynamics and resolve conflicts to ensure a productive and positive team culture.
- Set clear goals and expectations, and monitor team performance to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

The expected salary range for this role is $129,800 - $165,490 per year

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering preferred or equivalent work experience in hands-on technology environment.
- 6+ years of software development experience, with knowledge of Agile software development processes, including application of Agile techniques and delivery practices, and promoting adoption of Agile methodologies to secure a dedicated mindset in product teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain sophisticated technical decisions to non-technical collaborators.
- Excellent understanding of the latest development technologies.
- Familiar with partnering with collaborators across an at-scale, sophisticated, global organization setup.
- Strong positive thinking skills that include creating a safe environment to learn, challenge, accept risk-taking, and a willingness to be wrong.
- Ability to navigate complex matrix organization structures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2+ years of people management experience is a plus.
- Experience leading a team of engineers is a plus.
- Proficiency in the latest microservice and API architectures and technologies is a plus.
