Department Overview
The Center of Excellence (COE) is a centralized group of supply chain experts who provide the essential resources and services that support our Global Supply Chain Goals. Together, the team provides strategic thought leadership and builds, improves, and implements processes and tools that make our Global Supply Chain more effective and efficient.
The Center of Excellence’s purpose is to help enable our GSC Vision: “To be the world’s leading supply chain, connecting customers with the food they love and trust”. We do this by enhancing the unique “ingredients” of Global Supply Chain (GSC) and empowering supply chain business decisions through our special SAUCE:
Strategy and Risk Management
We lead our GSC Strategy and Risk Management processes, including owning the area of Supplier Human Rights.
Analysis
We lead key Supply Chain Reporting activities and provide insights, intel and benchmarking capabilities across GSC.
Upskilling
We lead GSC Training Programs, manage the Learning Resource Center and our Development Experience Portal (DEP).
Collaboration
We facilitate collaboration across GSC and other Functions to find solutions to important problems and uphold our cultural norms.
Excellence
We build and leverage tools, templates, and technologies to provide strategic thought leadership and best practices.
Responsibilities
Sourcing Excellence
The COE has two teams – Sourcing Excellence and Functional Excellence - each performing complementary roles in support of GSC. This role will sit within the Sourcing Excellence team and report to the Sourcing Excellence Director. The Functional Excellence team is led by Jen Chaffee and is responsible for managing GSC Risk Management, key GSC processes such as Food & Paper reporting, Savings and Spend, and functional COE responsibilities such as GSC training.
The Sourcing Excellence team’s key stakeholders are our global and market strategic sourcing teams across both Food and Services categories. Our vision is to be a trusted catalyst of innovation, collaboration, and thought leadership for our sourcing teams - aided by a strategic, agile, and data-driven ecosystem.
The Sourcing Excellence team provides process expertise and discipline, acts as a conduit for best practice sharing and enables an agile supply chain. Examples of each area can be summarized as follows:
- Cross-Category Best Practices
- Act as an extension to our Sourcing Teams to identify best practices across key workstreams common to multiple categories
- Current examples include our Supplier Engagement Strategy, Pricing Protocols, and expansion of Commodity hedging programs
- Act as an extension to our Sourcing Teams to identify best practices across key workstreams common to multiple categories
- Strategic Sourcing Review Process
- Leveraging best practices across the 7 Step Sourcing Framework
- Managing 3rd Party Sourcing Project Support for key sourcing activities, including SSR/RFx, Network Optimizations and Category Research
- Supply Chain Insights & Reporting
- Commodity and Economic Insights & Reporting
- Commodity benchmarking
You will be a part of a team of six self-starters with indirect management responsibilities of the two Supervisors in the team.
Qualifications

- Proactivity, Creativity and Agility: Ability to proactively identify creative solutions and flexibility to manage evolving priorities
- People Leadership: People management experience elevating individuals by way of visibility and capability
- Operational Acumen: Experience in managing multiple complex projects simultaneously and optimizing performance
- Analytical Thinking: Data-driven decision-making and problem-solving
- Category Management: Prior category and strategic sourcing management experience is preferred
- Industry Experience: 3+ years in supply chain, sourcing, or risk management
- Industry and Product Knowledge: Experience with various food or service categories. McDonald’s Global Supply Chain and market supply chains is a plus.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $98,140.00 - $125,130.00 per year
