Job Description:The Director of U.S. Sourcing Strategy reports to the Senior Director, U.S. Sourcing Strategy. This role leads a team responsible for assuring supply, fostering supplier relationships, and strategic category planning aimed to build resilient and sustainable supply chains that enable the business. All are necessary to implement the US & Global business priorities in the Bakery, Beverages, Liquid Products, Packaging, Toys and Uniform categories.
You will be responsible as a People Manager to empower and develop your team of three category managers in line with Our McDonald’s Values, prioritizing talent and career development, and enabling efficient decision making.
This role requires strong people leadership and a strategic approach. Central to your success is building relationships with all three legs of the stool: suppliers, operators, and internal stakeholders. Critical to this role is the ability to collaborate and coordinate internally with both US stakeholders and your global counterparts. Participation on cross functional teams to support innovation and business priorities will be expected.
Responsibilities:
- Talent Development:
- Leads a high functioning and collaborative team.
- Empowers and develops people in line with McDonald’s Values, prioritizing talent and career development, and enabling efficient decision making.
- Provides team members opportunities for cross functional and cross market relationship and experience development through knowledge of the business and organization frameworks.
- Partners with Senior Director of Sourcing Strategy to ensure a strong talent pipeline for the Sourcing Strategy Team.
- Strategic Business Partnering:
- Builds and grows relationships with strategic supplier partners to enable key business drivers and assure long term supply resiliency for McDonald’s.
- Develops and fosters relationships with internal cross functional partners including Quality, Field Service, Sustainability, Marketing, Brand & Menu Strategy, Operations, Consumer Insights & Strategy, Brand Impact, and external third-party resources in support of Supply Chain activities.
- Collaborates with National Supply Leadership Council (NSLC) Leadership Team to provide updates on the US supply chain and partner on key improvement projects to drive efficiency, increased quality/food safety, or resiliency
- Maintains awareness of regulatory and legislative developments that could impact supply resiliency or costs, builds cross functional teams with US/State/Local Government Relations, US Sustainability, other Global Impact functions, suppliers, and industry associations function to build an advocacy policy and plan to mitigate/minimize risk to the business.
- Strategy Development & Execution:
- Ensures US market, US supply chain and global supply chain priorities are executed and implemented.
- Assists US Supply Chain Leadership in development of sourcing strategies and priorities
- Supports the team’s development of category strategies, project plans, deliverables and metrics
- Oversees and governs F&P and Variance Accounts to provide financial projections to stakeholders, in collaboration with US Finance.

The expected salary range for this role is $168,350 - $218,860 per year

Education/Previous Experience:
- 4-year accredited degree required, preferably a Bachelors’ Degree in Business or Supply Chain.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, new product development, project management or commensurate experience in related function.
- People management experience is preferred

- Capable of building successful working teams, supporting the development of others and working effectively across multiple disciplinary and inter-company teams.
- Ability to foster meaningful partner relationships and influence both internally and externally to provide McDonald’s with the highest value goods and services.

- Strong communication skills with ability to synthesize complex information and articulate in a concise manner, translating into business recommendations.
- Ability to focus team on what matters most, reprioritizing often to support dynamic business needs.
- Enjoys a fast-paced environment and changing business dynamics.
- Capability to absorb macroeconomic and geopolitical trends and events and identify/mitigate overall and industry specific supply chain risks.
