Job Description:As the Proactive Risk Planning Director, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction and overseeing the execution of the Proactive Risk Planning Team's initiatives. Your role will center on high-level planning, governance, and collaboration with senior stakeholders to ensure the organization is well-prepared for the future. You will drive detailed scenario planning and tabletop exercises, enforce governance across risk management capabilities, and work closely with other capability owners to identify and address emerging risks. Your leadership will be critical in contributing to the organization’s future-readiness, ensuring it remains agile and competitive in an ever-changing global landscape defining market escalation protocols, evaluating long-term trends, and enhancing the organization's overall risk management effectiveness. Position reports to Risk Governance Senior Director.
The Impact You Will Make:
As the Proactive Risk Planning Director, you will:
- Set the strategic vision for the Proactive Risk Planning Team and ensure alignment with the Risk Governance Senior Director and organizational goals.
- Lead comprehensive scenario planning and tabletop exercises by testing assumptions about the organization’s potential future operating environments and ensuring proactive preparedness if risks should materialize.
- Establish and enforce consistent governance across all risk management capabilities.
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders and other capability owners to ensure alignment on future environment assumptions and proposed proactive response plans to ensure the organization minimizes the likelihood of disruption.
- Define market escalation protocols and thresholds for potential scenarios to ensure swift and effective responses.
- Evaluate the implications of long-term trends on the organization and integrate findings into strategic planning.
Responsibilities:
- Set and execute the strategic vision for proactive risk planning by collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather inputs and develop a shared vision.
- Conduct workshops and facilitate tabletop exercises to assess and position organizational readiness for potential future scenarios.
- Provide leadership with a clear understanding of possible futures and what actions are needed today to prepare and ensure the organization remains agile and positioned for success.
- Foster a culture of adaptability, encouraging teams to think beyond current risks and embrace visionary planning.
- Work with crisis management and business continuity teams to define market escalation protocols and thresholds for future scenarios.
- Perform after-action reviews of scenarios that materialized to refine risk response strategies and better inform future scenario planning.
- Evaluate long-term trends and integrate findings into risk management strategies.
- Conduct training initiatives to enhance organizational understanding of risk management and future-focused planning.

The expected salary range for this role is $168,350 - $218,860 per year

- 8+ years of experience in strategic planning, risk management, or related roles
- Proven expertise in leading complex risk planning initiatives with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including scenario planning, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation.
- In-depth knowledge of industry practices and regulations related to risk management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of an organization, including senior executives.
- Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative analysis of complex data for strategic risk management.
- Experience in developing and implementing high-level risk management strategies.
- Strong project management, relationship building and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to listen with empathy and build trust and rapport.
