Job Description:

The Director’s main responsibility is to lead the Global Logistics strategy and vision supporting McDonald’s Accelerating the Arches strategy and the Global Supply Chain vision. This role is responsible for managing the relationships with our global distribution and logistics suppliers as well as serving as the McDonald’s lead supporting the GLC (Global Logistics Council) and GOFC (Global Ocean Freight Council).

Responsibilities:

  • Leading global category strategy development, supplier performance reviews, resiliency, people development, risk management, and pricing protocols/commercial agreements.
  • Responsible for creation of business cases, business relationship agreements (BRAs) and cost saving initiatives, operating standards, category innovation, sustainability roadmaps, etc.
  • Serves as the McDonald’s lead supporting the Global Logistics Council and the Global Ocean freight council which includes involving key decision makers and responsible functional leads from each global logistics partner to ensure McDonald’s leverages our scale on key strategic pillars.
  • Responsible for setting/maintaining operating standards and procedures, policies, quality, safety, vision and strategy and business relationship agreements.
  • Accountable for code of conduct, data management, privacy compliance, benchmarking, financial and operating risk management, global relationship, commercial agreements and mechanisms for corporate G&A.
  • Work with our logistics providers to set strategy and standards for Carrier Sourcing, E-bidding, Freight Tendering, PO Management & Tracking, Container Tracking and Claims Management.
  • Responsible for Quality Standards including Inspection & Management, Contingency & Capacity Planning, Customs Clearance, Trade/Import Compliance, Purchasing & Accounts Management and Project Management.
  • Participates and/or leads crisis management task forces when required.
  • Works cross-functionally within McDonald’s ensuring strategies and deployment are communicated, measured, and well-aligned.

Capabilities:

  • Strategist and leader with strong intuition and supply chain knowledge focused around business performance, planning, business drivers, and overall competitive landscape.
  • Strong influencing skills: a great teammate who can build relationships and work collaboratively across senior management at McDonald’s and suppliers as well as other staff where appropriate.
  • Demonstrated success and ability to achieve results through partnership, gaining alignment with key partners and adept at leading without authority.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to convey complex concepts and relay information to various levels of leadership effectively and candidly.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and working within a diverse global landscape. Ability to focus attention on what matters most, re-prioritizing frequently to support our dynamic business needs.
  • Supplier relationship management expertise.
  • Should have extensive commercial and relationship management experience.
  • Required to manage projects from inception to completion with a high degree of self-motivation and initiative.
  • Flexibility to support an agile, fast paced business environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Supply Chain or Business fields preferred
  • Deep distribution experience:
    • Proven track record in achieving results across subject areas and within supply chain specifically.
    • Influences at executive level, effectively influences without direct authority.
    • Develops global logistic strategies (automation, technology, sustainability etc).
    • Builds & executes compelling business cases to deliver corporate goals.
  • Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) experience is a plus. 

Good to Know:

Some scheduled travel will be required to perform the duties of this role. We are open to considering applications within our International office network. Relocation not offered.
