Department Overview

The Global Restaurant Experience Team is responsible for elevating CX & EX through transforming a restaurant's physical space into a functional, visually appealing, and immersive environment that enhances the overall restaurant experience, making the McDonald's experience distinctively golden.

 

Collaborates with development leads for US, IOM, and IDL Segments & the Global Development team to identify and address opportunities to elevate the customer & employee experience, fueling the ability to accelerate new store development & grow restaurant sales.

Duties

The position reports to the Global Restaurant Design Director, Architecture & Design Innovation and will work with other team members to lead and support projects and initiatives that will serve our global markets.  The New Concepts & Innovation team is responsible for all new architectural designs including façade design, new restaurant formats, kitchen facilities design, and restaurant design innovation. The successful performance of this role will directly contribute to achieving the ambitious goals of the Global Restaurant Design team, and those of the company. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management and provide design guidance for new restaurant format development, including creation of design intent drawings and visuals (2D & 3D).
  • Lead development of globally applicable design solutions and standards for existing and new restaurants to continually improve experiences for both customers and our restaurant teams, and to holistically address business needs.
  • Engage with stakeholders and collaborate with team members and subject matter experts to ensure design solutions have been aligned and validated with other functions (ex. Operations)
  • Work with vendors to detail, select materials and finishes, and prototype new design elements.
  • Engage with and manage suppliers and external partners on creation and development work, detailing, material and finish selection, and prototyping.
  • Initiate and support development of architectural and site design standards, guidelines, and training tools to best communicate restaurant formats and new concepts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture
  • Expertise in architectural design, including space and site-planning, material selection, and detailing
  • Human-centric design mindset
  • Sense of curiosity with genuine desire to learn and think with agility
  • Passion for problem-solving
  • Capable of managing projects
  • Adept collaboration skills, working effectively and inclusively with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Aptitude for building and nurturing relationships
  • Excellent communication skills. including the ability to clearly illustrate ideas, concepts, and principles through the most effective method (written, visual, verbal, or combination of) understandable for the identified audience
  • A solid knowledge base and strong belief in the critical importance of sustainability, with a passion to continue to learn and contribute through architecture/design

Requirements

  • Proven architectural and design experience (5 years minimum)
  • Strong AutoCAD skills, 3D modeling skills required
  • Adobe Suite experience required
  • BIM/Revit experience a plus
  • Experience in retail/food service/hospitality design creation (including scalable solutions a plus)

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $98,140.00 - $125,130.00 per year
