The Opportunity
You will be responsible for developing and executing compelling enterprise communication and employee engagement plans that foster trust, drive alignment and support business priorities. As Consultant, Communications, you’ll be at the heart of how we connect, inform and inspire our employees and franchisees. You’ll work closely with leaders across the business to craft timely communications that support key initiatives, reinforce our values, and bring our strategy to life. This is a highly collaborative role that blends strategic thinking with creative execution. Whether you're planning a town hall or drafting a key announcement, you'll bring a hands-on approach to a wide range of communications projects.
Duties
- Develop and execute internal communication plans that support enterprise-wide initiatives and change management.
- Champion the employee voice and help shape a culture of transparency, inclusion, and engagement.
- Craft compelling written and visual content for a variety of internal channels, including newsletters, intranet, town halls, digital signage, etc.
- Partner with internal teams to support consistent and timely communications to employees and franchisees.
- Innovate and imagine new, modern ways to engage stakeholders in telling the McDonald’s Canada story internally.
- Provide strategic direction and executional excellence on key brand trust and employee pride initiatives that enable the McDonald’s Brand to live its purpose and feed and foster communities.
- Protect brand risk and reputation by supporting the team to manage and mitigate issues.
- Work collaboratively across the McDonald’s Canada system, including with agency partners, corporate team members, and McDonald’s Canada franchisees.
Qualifications
- McDonald’s brand fan
- Bachelor’s degree and/or an equivalent combination of related education and experience in communications related field
- Minimum 4 to 6 years’ experience in communications; internal communications experience an asset
- Expertise in crafting communication materials into relevant, timely and engaging narratives across formats and channels.
- Experience developing stakeholder engagement strategies to drive business outcomes; change management experience an asset
- Experience with digital communication platforms and tools (intranet, newsletter, editorial calendar, Canva, etc.)
- Journalistic instincts and skills in uncovering and developing stories
- Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with an in-depth understanding of public relations principles and practices
- Ability to influence and collaborate with senior leadership and cross functional teams
- Well organized, strong project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines
- A team player with a good attitude and a desire to collaborate as part of an integrated team, while also being independent
- Bilingual (French and English) an asset but not required
