Job Description:

The National Development Group (NDG) is a group of dedicated individuals who are responsible for providing growth to the McDonald’s Australia business and its partners, through a focus on profitable restaurant growth and responsible reinvestment. We support growth with the delivery of world class design outcomes that meet our customer’s expectations.

As Construction Project Manager you are accountable for the construction management of Time, Cost, Quality and Safety for New Restaurants and Remodel’s of existing McDonald’s restaurants. Partnering with key internal and external stakeholders to execute projects to the highest quality and deliver on key performance indicators.

What will my key accountabilities be?

  • Partnering with internal departments on the execution and management of multiple projects from Concept to Opening.
  • Evaluate and incorporate vendor/lessor deal, associated reports and governing authority requirements into project development (i.e. Scope of Works, program, costings)
  • Co-ordinate and evaluate Site Investigation reports including the availability of services, geotechnical and contamination assessments.
  • Manage and liaise with governing authorities during approval and development process.
  • Manage the development of project documentation, ensuring compliance with all departmental procedures and processes.
  • Project Manage construction process incorporating regular communication meetings with all parties (i.e. Licensee, Operations, Contractors, Suppliers) to ensure the awareness of issues and progress is maintained and Site Safety plans are executed.
  • Project manage construction to budget (i.e. Letter of offer, BCS, RRF)
  • Coordinate the Handover Process (incorporating all disciplines and suppliers) to ensure the operations (licensee) personnel are fully briefed on the operation and maintenance of all items
  • As required, participate in annual reviews of preferred consultants/contractors
  • Manage the tender process, negotiation, evaluation and appointment of contractors/nominated subcontractors and suppliers

  • Strong in communication skills-both written and verbal. Able to help stakeholders understand important information (which is sometimes technical)
  • Strong in interpersonal skills and ability to build strong reciprocal relationships
  • Knowledgeable and maintains a strong understanding of Development Group minimum standards and policies and procedures, environmental standards (Company and legislative) and WHS practices (Company and legislative)
  • Known and trusted for knowledge and expertise and confident in one’s ability
  • A strategic thinker who sees the big picture with ability to make good decisions based on available information and Company priorities
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Ability to travel regionally and interstate as projects require.
  • Strong in problem solving skills with ability to assist others to overcome obstacles
  • Well-organised, methodical and demonstrated project management skills; able to set and work to tight deadlines and at a fast pace
  • Focused on the direction of the Company and adapts projects accordingly to compliment
  • Ethical and responsible, understands and adheres to McDonald’s Standards of Business Conduct always, and role models integrity to others.
