Could you be our next Development Manager (DM) - Real Estate?

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team in as a Development Manager - Real Estate, looking after the south & west regions in Victoria. You will utilise your industry connections, real estate knowledge, and experience to actively identify potential new sites for the development of McDonald's restaurants in Melbourne. You will be responsible for managing the end-to-end property acquisition or leasing process, collaborating closely with your internal stakeholders and external consultants when necessary. This is an exciting, fast growing space for McDonald’s with a lot of opportunity for growth and development.

 

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Developing industry connections and real estate knowledge and use real estate technology to assist in finding potential new sites (freehold or leasehold) to develop into McDonald’s restaurants in the market. 
  • Conducting detailed research into potential sites; critically assessing and evaluating the feasibility, suitability, and potential of each site to become a successful and profitable McDonald’s restaurant location. 
  • Managing the end-to-end property acquisition (or leasing) process, including working with the legal team and external consultants (where applicable) to negotiate deals, seek internal approvals, finalise legal documentation, and pursue relevant authority approvals (e.g., development approval) up to possession of the property for handover to the Construction Team.  
  • Working closely with specialist external consultants (where necessary) and the construction team to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. 
  • Engaging and fostering ongoing communication with key stakeholders such as McDonald’s operators, vendors, landlords, leadership, corporate departments, and National Development Group team members to create alignment, keep projects on track and deliver on the National Development Group’s plan.  
  • Managing general real estate related matters and enquiries as they arise.  
  • Achieving a nominated number of real estate package signings each year. 
  • Working closely with and being supported by an Assistant Development Manager.
Qualifications:

Your keys to success:

  • Tertiary qualification in real estate
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in property/acquisitions industry
  • Negotiating leasehold and freehold transactions experience preferred, however not essential 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage robust pipelines and networks in a competitive environment
  • Proven track record of thriving in challenging situations and maintaining a positive attitude
  • Intrinsic drive and self-motivation to consistently achieve high-quality results
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey messages clearly and professionally.
  • Skilled in navigating challenging discussions and turning unfavourable narratives into positive outcomes
  • Experience and success in developing and executing growth strategies, with a focus on expanding operations and establishing new stores
  • Proven ability to manage time efficiently and effectively prioritise tasks, especially while handling multiple mergers and acquisitions (M&As) and overseeing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Great at building strong relationships with co-workers, stakeholders and third parties
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and collaborative environment
  • Knowledgeable and maintains a strong understanding of the Development Group minimum standards, policies and procedures, environmental standards (Company and legislative) and WHS practices (Company and legislative)
